The story starts with Kunal, a twelfth-grader, making amusing attempts to woo his classmate Tara. Kunal finally gets Tara to accept his proposal, and their romantic drama begins.
Kunal leaves Indore after completing his education and enrols in a Naval College in Mumbai. Tara dumps him for someone else, and his sober life is turned upside down. Kunal quickly becomes an alcoholic and chain smoker, and instead of enrolling in the naval college, he moves to a strange rundown room in Darukhana, where he spends his days drinking, smoking, and missing Tara.
